Alwaght- More than 20,000 Palestinian homes in al-Quds (also known as Jerusalem) have been shortlisted to be demolished by the Israeli occupation authorities, GlobalResearch.ca reported, citing Jerusalem Centre for Social and Economic Rights (JCSER) .
The center's head, Ziad Hamouri, said that the reason these homes have been shortlisted for demolition is that they were built without building licenses issued by the Israeli regime municipality in the occupied city. Applications for such licenses from Palestinians are rarely approved .
According to Hamouri, the Israelis use the license issue as a pretext to get rid of the centuries-old Palestinian existence in al-Quds. Few Palestinians can afford a building license even if an application is approved. Hamouri said that the Zionists demands for a construction license are punitive financially and procedurally. “Every license takes from five to eight years to be issued and they cost from $30,000 to $50,000 each", added Hamouri
Such measures do not apply to Zionists living in the city, who even find apartments ready-made for them to move into and are exempt from frequent and very high taxes .
The oppressed Palestinians have repeatedly called for the international community to stop Israeli regime taking ever more land which the so-called international community turned a deaf ear to it.
