Alwaght- The 17-month-old son of Zainab al-Khawaja was not allowed by Bahraini Regime to be taken out of the prison however his mother is suffering from a severe flu and cannot take care of him.
Zainab al-Khawaja, 32 years old, was taken to custody with her 17-month-old toddler in March and now the authorities say no to her demand of handing over his son to his father, the Persian Gulf Center for Human Rights said on Monday.
The center said Abdulhadi’s father went to the prison a day earlier to take his son but was told it “was not allowed.” Prison authorities even refused to let Khawaja’s mother, Khadija al-Mousawi, see her grandson, it added.
“It has become clear to me that my grandson Abdulhadi is no longer only accompanying Zainab in prison, but is rather a prisoner himself who cannot leave regardless of the situation,” said Mousawi.
Al-Khawaja is a daughter of a prominent activist serving a life sentence over 2011 Islamic Awakening-inspired protests in the small nation off the coast of Saudi Arabia.
She faces several years in prison on a variety of charges linked to her activism, including tearing up pictures of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
