Boroujerdi: American Mistakes to blame for Terrorism in Mideast

Alwaght-A senior Iranian lawmaker says strategic miscalculations by American government and its allies in the Middle East are to blame for growing terrorism in the region.

“The ominous phenomenon of terrorism in the region is the result of strategic miscalculations by American and its regional allies,” Chairman of Iranian parliament's (Majlis) National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Saturday.

Boroujerdi made the remarks in a meeting with Mexico’s Secretary of Foreign Relations José Antonio Meade Kuribreña.

The Iranian lawmaker also stressed Tehran’s determination to fight terrorism, saying the Islamic Republic’s policies have "grounded" terrorism in the region.

The Mexican official, for his part, described Iran as the axis of developments in the Middle East.

The ISIS terrorists control large parts of Syria’s east and north. ISIS terrorist group also sent its Takfiri militants into Iraq in June, seizing large swathes of land straddling the border between Syria and Iraq. The extremist group has threatened all communities, including Shias, Sunnis, Kurds and Christians during its advances in violence-torn Iraq.

Iraq has been also the scene of clashes between the army and al-Qaeda-affiliated militants over the past few years.

This comes as other regional countries, including Lebanon, have not been immune to terrorist activities by al-Qaeda-affiliated groups and ISIS terrorist group.
