Causes for America's military aid to Egypt

Sunday 2 February 2014
Causes for America's military aid to Egypt

Alwaght-All military and financial aid of USA to Egypt begun after a change in political status of Anwar Sadat's administration, namely Egypt's separation from Eastern Block and its joining to West's allies in Middle East which finally resulted in 1979 Camp David Accords. It seems that in Morsi's administration the same event had been taken place, however superstitiously .Jen Psaki, recently, has supported John Kerry's decision to help Morsi administration in 2013 fiscal year, saying that this decision is in accordance with our national interests and would help us in issues such as fighting against weapon smuggling and also reserving ours access to Suez Canal. Spokesperson for the State Department of USA acclaimed that America's aid to Cairo are not gifts and we give military aid to army to improve relations with them which is an organization that rules a big part of public opinion. So one can say, United States continued it aid to Egypt only after becoming certain of its old allies commitment to its interests.

According to an agreement made between USA an Egypt this aid is granted to army to be used for securing Sinai, preventing possible attacks against Israel from Gaza Strip, combating terrorism and securing Suez Canal for ships transiting, which all of them fulfill USA purposes. The roots of crisis in Sinai can be sought in poverty and deep social rift. Giving military aid to army seeks nothing but blowing the fire of turmoil in the region. Presence of other forces in Sinai looms over USA mind because during revolution Sinai was the battle ground between Islamists and Israeli regime and oil pipelines exploded by rebels repeatedly.

This military aid can be interpreted as a plot to keeping army independent upon USA government. The hypocritical policy of bestowing other countries military aid aims achieving two goals which are at the service of national interests of USA; first creating opportunities for their domestic armament manufacturers, second showing a humanitarian gesture to the world. Indeed both of these goals are in accordance with national interests of America. An anonymous source in an interview with Washington Post revealed that military aid of US was made to Egypt in order to help two American armament manufacturers, General Dynamic and Lockheed Martin, which were on the brink of bankruptcy and dismissed their employees.

USA administration says its aid to other countries is justified and also is crucial to preserve its regional interests. Regional interest in USA diplomacy terminology has a special meaning which Israeli regime's security is its most important ingredient. Washington believes if its strategic ally's situation weakens in the region, USA will lose its hegemonic force in the region, in other words the roots of America's security defines in occupied lands so allocating budget for security of Israel is vital for Washington. Such aid is rational agreement which follow several purposes for USA secures its interests in the region and bringing peace into region is nothing but a pretext for US to achieve its goals.

This financial and military aid of US to different countries is a pretext to interfere in other country's domestic and foreign affairs and make greet benefits out of small financial aid. In the current unstable commercial and security situation in Egypt, the country is vulnerable to the same plot, because it is in need of financial aid and apt to relinquish against America's demands. Indeed, US try to fulfill its demands and guarantee its future rather than bringing peace and justice to the world.

After June 30th coupe in Egypt, USA not only didn't suspend Egypt aid but also did its best to legitimize it via refraining to call the crackdown a military coup, otherwise according to USA laws the administration couldn't continue its aid to Cairo.
