ALWAGHT- Palestinian prisoner authorities say detainees from Gaza have been subjected to physical abuse and torture at Ramleh Prison, including alleged beatings while they were handcuffed and blindfolded.
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office said Gaza detainees at Ramleh Prison’s Rakevet section are facing near-daily abuse and torture. It alleged that guards beat prisoners, including in sensitive areas, while they are restrained and blindfolded.
The office said detainees are allegedly taken to rooms without surveillance cameras before being assaulted, describing the reported mistreatment as part of a continuing pattern of abuse. It called for international and human rights organizations to intervene.
The allegations come amid broader concerns over the treatment and health of Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons. The Palestinian Authority’s detainee affairs commission has separately reported deteriorating health conditions among prisoners at Ofer Prison and urged urgent medical intervention.
