BRICS Condemns Attacks on IAEA-Safeguarded Nuclear Sites in Iran

ALWAGHT- BRICS countries have raised strong objections to attacks targeting Iranian nuclear facilities operating under IAEA safeguards, stressing that such strikes run counter to international law and applicable resolutions of the nuclear watchdog.

BRICS members have voiced serious concern over attacks on civilian infrastructure and IAEA-safeguarded peaceful nuclear facilities, stressing that nuclear safety and security must be maintained even during armed conflicts to protect people and the environment.

The 11-member bloc also urged maximum restraint amid escalating tensions in West Asia, calling on countries to avoid actions that could further worsen the situation. It reaffirmed its support for resolving international disputes through dialogue, consultation and diplomacy.

The BRICS leaders further stressed the need to preserve global trade, supply chains and energy flows under international law. Chinese President Xi Jinping said the conflict in West Asia does not serve the interests of the international community.
