ALWAGHT- President Masoud Pezeshkian has welcomed the latest indirect nuclear negotiations with the US as a positive "step forward." He stressed that Iran's position is fundamentally rooted in the rights granted by the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
President Masoud Pezeshkian hailed the recent indirect Iran-US nuclear talks in Oman as a "step forward," reiterating that dialogue is Iran's peaceful strategy. He emphasized that Tehran's nuclear stance is strictly based on the rights guaranteed by the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), adding that Iran responds to respect but rejects any language of force.
The talks, mediated by Omani officials, involved an exchange of viewpoints between the two sides. Iranian officials described the discussions as a positive start, noting that their positions and concerns were clearly conveyed to the US negotiators. A core Iranian demand is the recognition of its legal right to enrich uranium domestically, which it considers a non-negotiable red line.
Tehran insists that any technical discussions or measures must occur within a framework acknowledging this fundamental right, viewing other preconditions as acts of bad faith. These were the first nuclear talks since five previous negotiation rounds were suspended following US-Israeli airstrikes on Iran in mid-June.
