Cuba Criticizes US “Hostile” Language, Reaffirms Commitment to Defending Sovereignty

ALWAGHT- Cuba’s top diplomat denounced what he described as hostile rhetoric from the Trump administration, cautioning that Havana will act to protect its sovereignty as US aggression intensifies.

Cuba’s foreign minister, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, issued a strong response on X to recent remarks by President Donald Trump and senior US officials, condemning what he described as offensive and threatening rhetoric rooted in a deep misunderstanding of Cuba’s political and social reality.

Rodríguez accused Washington of recycling false narratives promoted by Cuban-American politicians and special interest groups, arguing that these claims obscure what he called the real cause of hardship in Cuba: a long-standing US policy of economic pressure and an increasingly tightened blockade.

He said these measures have caused serious harm to Cuban families by restricting development and access to essential goods, but emphasized that Cuba remains determined to resist, declaring that the Cuban people will defend their nation against any form of external aggression.

Tensions escalated further following US actions against Venezuela and comments by Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, while US media voices drew parallels between Trump’s foreign posture and the confrontational, anti-democratic tendencies exposed during the January 6, 2021 Capitol riots.
