The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Treaty between Iran and Russia—signed in Moscow on January 16, 2025—officially entered into force on October 2, 2025. The agreement reflects the commitment of both nations’ leaders to deepen relations and enhance cooperation based on mutual respect, good-neighborliness, and shared national interests.
The ministry described the treaty as a turning point in the history of Iran-Russia relations, marking a new phase of strengthened ties across multiple fields. The document outlines priorities for collaboration in diplomatic, economic, defense, scientific, energy, investment, and cultural sectors, creating a comprehensive framework for long-term partnership.
It further emphasizes joint efforts to promote international peace, uphold the UN Charter, and defend multilateralism and international law.
