ALWAGHT- Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Leader of the Islamic Revolution, has designated successors for the military commanders martyred in Israel’s terrorist attacks early Friday.
Ayatollah Khamenei appointed Seyyed Abdolrahim Mousavi as the new Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, succeeding the late Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri. He also named Mohammad Pakpour as the commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), replacing Major General Hossein Salami. Additionally, Ali Shademani was promoted to brigadier general and appointed to lead Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters, taking over from Major General Gholam Ali Rashid.
These appointments followed Israeli airstrikes early Friday targeting Tehran and other Iranian cities, which killed several top military commanders. Ayatollah Khamenei condemned the attacks, warning that the Zionist regime would face “severe punishment” for its aggression.
