Strengthening Economic Ties Promotes Peace and Stability in The Region

ALWAGHT- Promoting economic cooperation contributes to regional security and stability, says the Iranian Parliament Speaker.

Nechirvan Barzani, President of Iraqi Kurdistan, met with Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly, to discuss enhancing relations between Iran, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region.

Ghalibaf highlighted that strengthening ties with neighboring countries, particularly Islamic nations, is a top priority for Iran’s government and parliament. He noted the strong historical cooperation between Iran, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region, emphasizing the significant economic potential on both sides that should be further developed. “Advancing economic cooperation contributes to regional security and stability,” he added.

Both leaders commended the progress in bilateral relations. Barzani expressed gratitude for Iran’s ongoing support and collaboration with Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. They also reviewed recent regional developments, stressing the importance of coordination among key stakeholders to uphold peace and stability, and agreed on the need for joint efforts grounded in common interests.
