ALWAGHT- The US has carried out multiple airstrikes across Yemen, including in Sana’a, killing at least three people. The attacks followed reports that Yemeni Armed Forces had shot down a second American MQ-9 Reaper drone in Sa’ada province within 24 hours.
The US military launched a series of airstrikes across Yemen, with 21 attacks hitting Sana’a and its surrounding areas, including the al-Nahda neighborhood, September 21 Park, and a cemetery in the Assafi’yah neighborhood. At least three people were killed and several others wounded in the strikes, which also extended to western districts such as Bani Matar and southern and eastern outskirts like al-Haffa. Several additional districts, including Hamdan and al-Haymah al-Kharijiyah, were also hit.
Beyond Sana’a, airstrikes were reported in the provinces of Ma’rib and ‘Amran, as well as on key infrastructure in Hudaydah, including the port, international airport, and Kamaran Island. While no casualties were reported in Hudaydah, the scale of destruction remains unclear. The widespread attacks come amid heightened tensions in the region due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
In response to Israeli actions in Gaza and US-UK strikes on Yemen, the Yemeni Armed Forces have launched retaliatory operations targeting American, British, and Israeli interests in the Red Sea. Yemen has also imposed a blockade on key maritime routes to pressure the global community into addressing the crisis in Gaza. Despite the US-led bombardment, Yemeni forces have vowed to continue their operations until Israel ceases its offensive in Gaza.
