Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US Special Envoy for Middle East Affairs Steve Witkoff led the discussions, focusing on Iran's nuclear program and the removal of sanctions.
According to Iran's Foreign Ministry, the negotiations took place in a constructive atmosphere based on mutual respect. After over two and a half hours of talks, the heads of both delegations briefly spoke before leaving the venue in the presence of Oman’s foreign minister.
Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, reiterated that the main goal for Iran in these talks is to secure its national interests, particularly the lifting of sanctions. Baghaei emphasized that Iran is committed to giving diplomacy an honest opportunity to address both nuclear issues and sanctions relief.
