ALWAGHT- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian criticized the inconsistency between the US administration’s calls for negotiations and its threats against Iran, emphasizing that Tehran would only agree to talks on equal terms.
In a meeting with top officials on Saturday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized the importance of engaging with other nations in Iran's foreign policy. He expressed that Iran is open to dialogue, but only on equal terms, pointing out the inconsistency in the US's approach of simultaneously threatening Iran while calling for negotiations.
Pezeshkian criticized the US for its paradoxical stance, stating that its behavior towards Iran and the world is humiliating and contradictory to its call for talks. He reaffirmed Iran's position that any negotiation must be based on mutual respect and equality.
While Iran has ruled out direct talks with the US, Pezeshkian mentioned the possibility of indirect negotiations, provided the US demonstrates commitment and works to rebuild trust. He stressed that the future of negotiations will depend on the US's actions and willingness to correct past mistakes.
