ALWAGHT- The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors commenced its regular meeting in Vienna, Austria.
The IAEA Board of Governors' meeting, which runs until Friday, will focus on several key topics, including nuclear safety, scientific research, and the implementation of Safeguards Agreements. A major point of discussion will be IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi’s report on Iran’s nuclear program and its compliance with international regulations.
In the previous session, the Board approved a resolution led by Western countries, urging Iran to take immediate steps to resolve outstanding issues related to the Safeguards Agreement. The resolution called for Tehran to grant access to sites and materials requested by IAEA inspectors, though Iran criticized it as politically motivated and unconstructive.
Despite ongoing tensions, IAEA inspectors have regularly visited Iranian nuclear facilities and have found no evidence of deviation from peaceful activities. Iran maintains that it is fully cooperating under the Safeguards Agreement and insists that remaining concerns should be addressed through a technical and non-political approach.
