ALWAGHT- Senior military commanders from Iran and Oman discussed plans to enhance defense cooperation between the two nations.
High-ranking military officials from Iran and Oman held discussions in Tehran, focusing on enhancing defense cooperation and regional security coordination.
During his visit, Vice Admiral Abdullah Khamis Al Raisi, Chief of Staff of the Sultanate of Oman’s Armed Forces, met with Iranian Army Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi to explore strategic military collaboration between the two nations. Their talks centered on strengthening bilateral defense relations and promoting stability and security in the region.
On Tuesday evening, Al Raisi also held a separate meeting with Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, where they discussed expanding military partnerships and addressing shared security challenges.
Both sides emphasized the deep-rooted relations between Tehran and Muscat, built on mutual trust and respect. They also exchanged views on key regional and international developments affecting their countries.
Al Raisi’s visit to Tehran on Monday evening came at the official invitation of Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces. The visit reflects the ongoing commitment of both nations to fostering defense cooperation and enhancing regional security through diplomatic and military engagement.
This meeting highlights Tehran and Muscat’s long-standing military ties, particularly in areas such as joint maritime security, counterterrorism efforts, and defense industry collaboration. Given Oman’s strategic position along the Persian Gulf and its history of mediation in regional affairs, deeper military coordination between the two countries could further bolster security and stability in the region.
