ALWAGHT- On January 25, North Korea successfully test-launched a sea-launched strategic cruise missile, with the nation’s leader, Kim Jong Un, overseeing the event.
The missiles traveled a distance of 1,500 kilometers (930 miles) in approximately 7,500 seconds, successfully hitting their targets, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
This resulted in an average flight speed of 720 kilometers per hour (447 mph). The test did not pose any threat to the security of neighboring countries, the news agency reported.
KCNA stated that the test was part of a broader plan to enhance national defense capabilities, aimed at bolstering strategic deterrence against potential adversaries amid the shifting security landscape in the region.
Kim Jong Un reaffirmed Pyongyang's commitment to further advancing its "means of deterring war," stating, "We will always responsibly fulfill our vital mission and duties to safeguard lasting and permanent peace and stability through strengthened military forces."
