ALWAGHT- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that sustained and enhanced cooperation between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan could transform the two neighbors into strategic partners.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met with Azerbaijan's Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev in Tehran ahead of the 16th meeting of their joint economic cooperation commission. Pezeshkian emphasized that strengthening ties with Muslim and neighboring countries, particularly Azerbaijan, is a core policy of Iran. He highlighted the significance of mutual agreements and collaboration in sectors like trade, energy, and transportation as pathways to building a strategic partnership.
Mustafayev, representing Azerbaijan, conveyed President Ilham Aliyev’s greetings to Pezeshkian and underscored the shared religious and cultural ties that foster strong bilateral relations. He highlighted the importance of these commonalities as a foundation for expanding cooperation between the two nations. Both sides expressed interest in creating a roadmap to deepen their relationship in various areas.
The Azeri official also stressed the need for regional countries to resolve their issues independently, without reliance on foreign intervention. Additionally, he extended an invitation from President Aliyev for President Pezeshkian to visit Azerbaijan, reinforcing the commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties.
