ALWAGHT- The Iranian Foreign Ministry extended condolences to South Korea and Thailand following the tragic plane crash at Muan International Airport that claimed the lives of their citizens.
On Sunday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei expressed condolences to the governments and peoples of South Korea and Thailand, as well as to the families of the victims of the plane crash.
The tragic accident occurred at Muan International Airport in South Korea, where at least 127 passengers were killed when the plane crashed while attempting to land. The Jeju Air flight, coming from Bangkok, was carrying 181 people, including six crew members. It veered off the runway, struck a wall, and erupted in flames.
Reports indicate that two survivors, both flight crew members, were pulled from the wreckage. Among the passengers were two Thai nationals.
In addition to Iran's condolences, other nations have expressed their sympathies. The Thai Prime Minister, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, conveyed her condolences to the families of the deceased, acknowledging the profound loss.
South Korean authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation to identify the precise cause of the crash. Initial findings indicate that a bird strike, coupled with unfavorable weather conditions, may have played a role in the incident. Meanwhile, rescue and recovery efforts continue, with emergency teams working diligently to address the aftermath and assist the families of those affected.
This devastating incident underscores the critical importance of aviation safety and the need for continuous improvements in aircraft technology and operational procedures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
