ALWAGHT- Iran's foreign minister denounced the Israeli regime's actions in Gaza and Lebanon as war crimes and crimes against humanity. He called for unified efforts to prevent the normalization of atrocities, crimes, and colonial erasure in occupied Palestine.
Abbas Araqchi, in his address at the 10th UNAOC Global Forum in Cascais, Portugal, emphasized the importance of dialogue, cooperation, and mutual respect among civilizations. He recalled Iran’s 2001 proposal for Dialogue Among Civilizations, which was unanimously adopted by the UN General Assembly, highlighting Iran’s long-standing commitment to peaceful coexistence. Araqchi stressed that Iran’s civilization, rooted in tolerance and respect for diverse cultures, has endured over centuries despite challenges and oppression.
Araqchi also addressed the current global moment, noting the threats facing the United Nations and its core values of peace and justice, particularly with the erosion of the Security Council's effectiveness. He called on the international community to address the ongoing crises in West Asia, particularly the genocide and cultural destruction occurring in occupied Palestine. He cited the actions in Palestine as war crimes and crimes against humanity, underlining the urgency of taking collective action to uphold international law and restore UN credibility.
He further criticized the international community's failure to act against Israel’s atrocities, arguing that remaining neutral in this conflict enables the continuation of Israel’s violent actions. Araqchi called for the rejection of the normalization of crimes and atrocities in Palestine, stressing the need for the global community to support the Palestinian people’s struggle for self-determination. He also condemned the Israeli regime’s actions for tarnishing Judaism, stating that the inhuman behavior of the Israeli regime should not be attributed to Jewish people or their faith.
Finally, Araqchi reaffirmed Iran's belief that lasting global peace depends on cooperation and mutual respect among civilizations. He emphasized the need to focus on shared human values rather than fostering division. Drawing from history, he urged the global community to work together for a future of justice, truth, and coexistence, highlighting that these principles always triumph over oppression and tyranny.
