ALWAGHT- Iranian President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian honored the late Iranian commander Lt. General Qassem Soleimani for dedicating his life to the service of the nation. He pledged to draw on the popular commander's unifying policies to address and resolve national issues.
On Friday evening, the president-elect met with General Soleimani’s family in Tehran.
Pezeshkian praised the late commander for his commitment to "unity and harmony," noting that General Soleimani was never at odds with anyone and did not seek to exclude others.
The president-elect remarked, "There was no indication of division in any of General Soleimani’s messages or statements."
Pezeshkian emphasized that his upcoming administration will draw inspiration from General Soleimani’s commitment to unity to tackle the nation's challenges.
Lt. General Soleimani, the former commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Quds Force, was martyred along with his companions in a US drone strike in Baghdad in January 2020, while he was on an official visit to the Iraqi capital.
The strike was directly ordered by former US President Donald Trump.
