Alwaght- The Leader of Iran Ayatollah Sayed Ali Khamenei held a public meeting with university students in Tehran on Saturday, dismantling the rumors run by Western media about poor health conditions.
His meeting came as mournings to Imam Hussein and Muharram culminated in Arabaeen cermonies.
His meeting with the students in this time of year is a regular annual program. The universities and schools are to open next week.
He looked quite sound and even without regular walking stick and delivered part of his speech while standing.
Over the last week, Western media promoted rumors around his health.
The New York Times claimed on Thursday that the Leader underwent a surgery last week and canceled all of his public meetings. The newspaper cited its sources who it said spoke on the condition of anonymity.
"Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is currently on bed rest under observation by a team of doctors, according to four people familiar with his health situation," the report said.
This is not the first time the Western media publish lies about his health. The propaganda about his health has started nearly two decades ago, with the Western media and Persian-language outlets based in Western countries spreading fake news about the health of the Supreme Leader.
The New York Report was republished by a set of new networks, mainly by Persian-language channels like BBC Persian, Saudi-funded Iran International, and Voice of America Persian service based in London and Washington.
