Israeli, Sudanese Spy Chiefs Met to Discuss Bashir’s Ouster

Israeli, Sudanese Spy Chiefs Met to Discuss Bashir’s Ouster

Alwaght- Head of Israeli regime’s spy agency has reportedly met his Sudanese counterpart in a as part of a secret plan by Saudi Arabia, Egypt and United Arab Emirates (UAE) to oust President Omar al-Bashir.

Salah Gosh, the head of Sudan's National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS), headed to Germany for the Munich Security Conference, which took place 15-17 February, where he also met with Mossad chief Yossi Cohen, according to the Middle East Eye.

Citing a senior military source, the London-based online news outlet said that the meeting was arranged by Egyptian intermediaries with the backing of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

According to the source, Riyadh, Cairo and Abu Dhai consider Salah as “their man” to be installed to power and put an end to Bashir’s three-decade rule in Sudan.

“There is a consensus that Bashir will go within the ruling party and the army,” said the source, “The battle is about who is coming after.”

“Gosh has strong links with the Saudis, the Emiratis and the Egyptians. They want Bashir out, and they want their man in his place,” the source added.

Bashir, who has been facing months of protests across the country, was not aware of the “unprecedented” meeting between his intelligence chief and Cohen, the sources said.

According to the news website, Gosh also met with European intelligence chiefs during his stay in Munich.

The Sudanese intelligence chief, who is said to be the US Central Intelligence Agency's operative in Khartoum, was reportedly identified by the agency as Washington’s preferred successor to Bashir and as a man who could facilitate ties between Sudan and the US, according to the new website African intelligence.

Since December, Sudan has been rocked by a wave of protests calling on Bashir to step down.

The president, however, has remained defiant, addressing loyalists at a number of rallies across the country and seeking support from regional allies.

Bashir and other senior Sudanese officials have repeatedly said that the government can only be changed through elections. The 75-year-old veteran leader is considering running for a third presidential term in next year's elections.

Salah, however, said last month that the president was planning to step down as leader of the ruling National Congress Party, and wouldn’t seek re-election.
