Alwaght-A Palestinian teenager has been shot dead by Israeli regime forces while dozens have been injured during weekly mass protests along the fence separating the besieged Gaza Strip and the Israeli-occupied territories for the 48th consecutive Friday.
Head of the emergency department at al-Shifaa Medical Complex, Dr. Ayman al-Sahbani, said 14-year-old Youssef al-Daya was fatally shot by Israeli regime troops.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said at least 41 Palestinians were hit and injured with live ammunition while hundreds of others choked on teargas.
Hundreds of Palestinians flocked to the Awda tents pitched east of the blockaded Gaza Strip to take part in the Great March of Return staged along the Gaza border to push for lifting the Israeli siege on the enclave, ceasing Israeli aggressions on Palestinian civilians, and halting assaults on holy sites across the occupied Palestinian territories.
Palestinians have held weekly protests on the Gaza border over the siege on the enclave and the right for refugees to return to their homes they were forcibly expelled from during the 1948 creation of Israel.
At least 260 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli regime forces ever since anti-occupation protest rallies began in the Gaza Strip on March 30. Over 26,000 Palestinians have also sustained injuries.
The Gaza clashes reached their peak on May 14 last year, on the eve of the 70th anniversary of the Nakba Day (Day of Catastrophe), which coincided this year with the US embassy relocation from Tel Aviv to occupied East al-Quds (Jerusalem).
