Alwaght- Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, has blamed the Israeli regime after an explosion in the southern Lebanese city of Sidon targeted the group’s commander Mohammad Hamdan.

Hamas comments were released during a visit paid to Hamdan in Lebanon’s Labib Medical Center.

The visit was led by the group’s representatives in Lebanon Ali Baraka, Aymen Shana’a, and Jihad Taha.

According to a statement by Hamas, a blast in the southern Lebanese city of Sidon targeted Sunday Mohammad Hamdan, a member of Hamas in Sidon and a refugee in Lebanon.

Hamdan sustained injuries in his foot and his car was destroyed. Nearby buildings were damaged.

“Initial investigations indicate that the Israeli Occupation stands behind this criminal act,” added Hamas.

Meanwhile, after the Lebanese security agencies launched intensive investigations into the blast, several pieces of evidence indicated that the Israeli regime is behind the operation.

Israeli regime officials denied the reports about the enemy’s involvement in the blast, reflecting a case of confusion amid hints at the Israeli role in the blatant aggression.

Analysts said that if the Israeli regime was behind the operation, it has aimed at striking Hamas Lebanon’s wing which is administering the Intifada or uprising in the occupied Palestinian territories in coordination with Hezbollah.
