Alwaght- The Islamic Republic of Iran has reiterated its continued support of the Palestinian resistance that is fighting for emancipation from the Israeli apartheid regime.
In a message marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi said that, “Over these years, there were few countries standing by the Palestinians, to hear their cry for justice. This is while, they were denied from their very basic rights, and the occupying regime [of Israel] felt free to continue violating all their evident human and legitimate rights, and they never stopped their aggressions, genocide crimes against humanity and state terrorism and they blatantly make fun of international peace and security”.
“The great Iranian nation, during all the hard and tumultuous days, remained to demonstrate their solidarity with the Palestinians and Iran has never stopped supporting the causes of the oppressed people of Palestine,” he said.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman went on to say, “Iran believes by relying on the will of the Palestinian people we can address the chronic crisis in Palestine.”
Resistance only way to confront Zionist occupier
The Palestine history, over the past seven decades, has clearly shown the only way to confront the hegemony and greed of the Zionist occupier enemy was resistance and legitimate defense, Iran's Foreign ministry spokesman pointed out.
“Only through resistance and a legitimate defense the Palestinians can put an end to the Zionist aggressions, liberate the occupied Palestinian lands and let the Palestinian refugees return home,” Bahram Qasemi said.
“Almost seventy years have passed since the occupation of the Palestinian territories by the brutal Zionist regime,” Qasemi added.
“The Oppressed and defenseless people of Palestine, during these years, have witnessed nothing but oppression, aggression, occupation, displacement, atrocity, bloodshed, ethnic cleansing and apartheid,” he said.
Qasemi also said that a referendum to be held based on the accepted international principles, especially the UN Charter, which is participated by all the Palestinian parties, including Muslims, Christians, and the local Jews could be a fair, legal and human approach to determine the fate of the Palestinian people.
“Undoubtedly, the Iranian people and government, similar to the past, will continue their support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights and until the liberation of all the occupied territories,” Qasemi said. The Palestinian cause will not sink into oblivion by the Zionists' plots, he said.
International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People
In 1977, the General Assembly called for the annual observance of 29 November as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. On that day, in 1947, the Assembly adopted the resolution on the partition of Palestine.
In resolution 60/37 of 1 December 2005, the Assembly requested the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People and the Division for Palestinian Rights, as part of the observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People on 29 November, to continue to organize an annual exhibit on Palestinian rights or a cultural event in cooperation with the Permanent Observer Mission of Palestine to the UN.
