124 Palestinian Children Start School Year in Israeli Prison

Israeli forces have imprisoned 124 Palestinian students last year stopping them from attending the first day of school as some more were also killed by the regime.

Alwaght- Israeli forces have imprisoned 124 Palestinian students last year stopping them from attending the first day of school as some more were also killed by the regime.

11 students were killed during Israeli attacks against Palestinian civilians in 2015 while 10 children under the age of 12 are also among those imprisoned by Tel Aviv, Adnan Ghaith, Fatah official in occupied Al-Quds (Jerusalem) said.

The imprisonment of children contradicts almost all international conventions on children’s rights and has caused widespread protests against the act including International campaigns to boycott Israel.

Elaborating on Tel Aviv’s attempt to erode its responsibility toward children in the occupied lands, Ghaith said “Education should be a free right and an aspect, all children must enjoy”.

Adding that Israel is targeting Palestinian children through killing or arresting to destroy one of the main pillars Palestinian society, he said “Israel is using education to achieve its goals by changing the curriculum.”

Israel is holding more than 7 thousands Palestinians, many of them children, in its prisons. Inaction of international organizations in face of severe prison conditions and unjustified imprisonment of Palestinians has caused numerous protests around the world.
