ALWAGHT- Iran's air defense force has confirmed Israeli attacks targeting locations in the provinces of Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam, stating that the aggression was successfully repelled.
"Despite prior warnings from officials of the Islamic Republic to the Zionist regime against any aggressive actions, this regime targeted military sites in the provinces of Tehran, Khuzestan, and Ilam early this morning in a provocative move," the air defense force said in a Saturday morning statement.
The statement added that the nation's integrated air defense system effectively intercepted and neutralized the attack.
While the attacks caused minor damage in some areas, the extent of the incident is under investigation, it noted.
Security sources previously reported that loud sounds heard by some residents near Tehran were due to the activation of air defense systems. They clarified that some of the sounds heard in the capital were related to "defense activity in Tehran."
Reports confirmed that no incidents requiring assistance occurred and that operations remained normal at both Mehrabad International Airport and Imam Khomeini International Airport.
Iranian air defenses "successfully intercepted adversarial targets in the airspace around Tehran province."
Footage shared online appeared to capture interceptions over Tehran early Saturday, and no missile strikes or impacts occurred on Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) sites in the west and southwest of Tehran.
The sounds heard were linked to army air defenses countering Israeli military actions in three areas around Tehran.
