ALWAGHT- The Iranian Foreign Ministry vehemently denounced a deadly military strike carried out by the Israeli regime on a residential building in southern Beirut on Tuesday.
In a statement on Tuesday night, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kanaani called the Israeli attack a flagrant violation of Lebanon's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as a serious breach of international laws and the United Nations Charter.
Kanaani stated, "The vile and criminal act by the Zionist criminal gang in the Dahiyeh area of Beirut will not deter the courageous people of the proud Lebanese nation and resistance from continuing their honorable support for the oppressed Palestinians and standing firm against the aggressive nature of the apartheid Israeli regime."
He emphasized the legitimate right of the Lebanese government, army, and resistance to respond to the hostile actions of the occupying Zionist regime, holding the illegitimate Israeli regime and the United States government accountable for increasing tensions and crises in the region.
Kanaani urged the international community and the UN Security Council to swiftly fulfill their responsibilities regarding the threats posed by the Israeli regime to Lebanon's security, as well as to regional and international peace and stability, according to the Foreign Ministry’s website.
At least three people, including two children, were killed and 74 others were injured in the Israeli strike on Beirut. The Israeli military characterized the attack as a "targeted assassination operation" aimed at Hezbollah commander Mushin Shukr.
According to Hezbollah sources, the commander survived the attack.
