Iraq's Sovereignty Red Line for Kurdistan Region: President Barzani

Iraq's Sovereignty Red Line for Kurdistan Region: President Barzani

Alwaght- President of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region Massoud Barzani said Iraq's sovereignty is a red line for the region, Iraqi Prime Minister official website, pmo.iq, reported.

Discussing by telephone with  Iraqi's Prime Minister Dr. Haider Al-Abadi on Turkey's incursion into Iraqi soil, Mr. Barzani stressed he rejects the entry of any troops to Iraq. We are with all who help us against ISIS terrorist gangs, but in coordination and consultation and the preservation of sovereignty, Barzani added on Tuesday.

Mr. Haider al-Abadi also reiterated his position on the refusal of entry of these forces without the knowledge or consent of Iraqi government and that they should withdraw immediately, with demands for a clear position from them on the sovereignty of Iraq, which should not be undervalued, noting that for more than a year there have been a number of requests from Arab and regional countries to intervene in the war against ISIS gangs and these were refused because we do not want to be an arena of conflict in the region, adding that there are no foreign troops fighting in Iraq, but there are advisers and trainers, and the victories achieved were by the heroic Iraqi hands.

On Friday, 130 Turkish troops equipped with heavy weapons were deployed at a military base on the outskirts of the city of Mosul, which is currently held by ISIS terrorists. A Turkish official speaking on condition of anonymity claimed military battalion has been deployed as part of a mission to ‘train Iraqi troops’ close to the city of Mosul currently occupied by the ISIS terrorist group. Reports say Turkey coordinated the incursion with US forces in the region.
