Alwaght- The world should prepare for a new world order that has been in the works in recent years, said President Sayed Ibrahim Raisi of Iran, adding the unilateralism is losing its steam and legitimacy.
"Now we have come together in a situation where we are facing an important reality, that is, turning and changing the world" and entering a new era and order, Raisi told the audience listening to his United Nations General Assembly address.
Referring to risks of the current declining world order, Raisi pointed to Iran's extensive efforts to help shape a new and fair world order.
He enumerated the examples of the injustice under the current world order and the "US double standards" in this order regarding such issues as terrorism and human rights across the world.
"If a country claims justice inside itself, but abroad it trains all kinds of terrorists and kills the nations, or forces the nations to surrender by imposing various pressures, it should be a shame for humanity, freedom, and justice," the Iranian president said.
He offered an alternative order to the US-dominated world order with with the participation of all nations.
"We believe in a common destiny for humanity and support the universalization of justice. We wish for others what we like for ourselves and we do not impose on others what we do not like for ourselves. The Iranian nation believes that justice creates unity and oppression creates war," he continued.
He pointed to the flaws of the current order and suggested that demise of it is inevitable.
He added: "We are departing from the old world, the world of unilateralism, dominance, dominance of capital over morality, justice and virtue, developer of poverty, discrimination and inequality, use of violence, sanctions and violation of the rights of nations and use of international organizations and institutions as a tool of pressure on independent countries and in a word, an unfair world. This unfair order has lost its legitimacy in the global public opinion and serious determination has been formed to change it. The decline of this old order is undeniable. Our region, namely West Asia, from Afghanistan to Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine and the proud Iran, is the showcase of the decline of this old order."
The president referred to other aspects of the dead-end this order is facing.
He also raised an image of General Qassem Soleimani of Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) who was assassinated by the US under Donald Trump in 2020 in Baghdad International Airport. He described General Soleimani as the champion of peace and anti-terror battle.
"A country thousands of kilometers away came to our region to redraw our region's borders at the expense of the blood of thousands of children and women. But the Islamic Republic checked this project and pushed it back. The commander and hero of this war against terrorism and the destroyer of ISIS was not but General Haj Qassem Soleimani, the one who was martyred in the path of the freedom of the nations of the region and the former president of the United States had in its this crime," he maintained.
