ALWAGHT- Iran has recorded the transit of more than 3.2 million Arbaeen pilgrims through its designated border crossings, with over 1.6 million returnees so far, said Ali Akbar Pourjamshidian, head of the country's Arbaeen Headquarters.
Ali Akbar Pourjamshidian, head of Iran’s Arbaeen Headquarters, said during a visit to the Bashmaq border crossing in Kordestan Province that the Arbaeen pilgrimage has proceeded without major disruptions so far. He encouraged pilgrims to use Iran’s various designated border crossings, noting that Bashmaq and Tamarchin have the infrastructure, welfare facilities and favorable weather to handle large numbers of travelers.
He said the joint efforts of Sunni and Shia mawakeb, alongside executive agencies, governorates and municipalities at the Bashmaq crossing, demonstrate practical Islamic unity. He also noted that a significant share of transportation services on both sides of the border is being provided free of charge.
Pourjamshidian said authorities are working to improve the return journey by establishing designated return points, service tents, directional signs and transport fleets inside Iraq. He added that efforts are continuing to build a more coordinated transportation system for pilgrims returning from Arbaeen.
