ALWAGHT- Iran’s UN ambassador warned that Tehran may no longer regard itself as bound by its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United States should Washington continue to breach its commitments under the agreement.
Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Saeed Iravani, said the alleged US attacks on Iranian islands and southern cities on July 7 and 8 violated the UN Charter and Washington’s commitments under the bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). He warned that if the United States continues to breach the agreement, Iran would no longer consider itself bound by its obligations.
Despite the warning, Iravani said Tehran remains committed to implementing the MoU as long as Washington fully honors its commitments. His remarks followed Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s statement that Iran has upheld the agreement, while accusing the United States of violating Clause 9 by imposing new sanctions on Iran.
