Beijing Launches Lijian-1 Y9 Rocket, Delivering Two Trial Satellites to Space

ALWAGHT- China successfully sent its upgraded Lijian-1 Y9 rocket into space with a pair of technical test satellites.

China launched its advanced Lijian-1 Y9 carrier rocket from the Dongfeng commercial space zone near the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center on Sunday, successfully placing two technical experiment satellites into their intended orbit.

The satellites are part of China’s newly initiated “Star Compute” project — an ambitious plan to build a massive AI-powered space infrastructure. The project envisions a network of 2,800 satellites forming an orbital AI supercomputer known as the “Three-Body Computing Constellation,” inspired by Liu Cixin’s famous sci-fi series.

Designed to revolutionize real-time space intelligence, the system could support applications such as disaster response, virtual tourism, smart cities, and advanced gaming simulations. Experts say the approach also offers major environmental advantages by relying on solar energy and efficient space-based cooling.
