ALWAGHT- The Hamas resistance movement has condemned Israel’s expanded military operations in the northern West Bank, stating that the crackdown exposes the occupying regime’s intent to continue its genocidal war against the Palestinian people.
Israel deployed tanks in the northern West Bank on Sunday for the first time since 2002, escalating military operations in the occupied territory. Hamas condemned the move, warning that Israel's aggression and the forced displacement of over 40,000 Palestinians in refugee camps require a united Palestinian response. The group also dismissed Israeli minister Israel Katz’s claims about long-term occupation of the region as unrealistic.
Hamas urged Palestinians to intensify resistance against Israeli actions, while Israeli forces launched new incursions into villages near Jenin. The Israeli public broadcaster KAN reported that the tank deployment signals a broader military expansion in the area. Since last month, Israeli operations in the northern West Bank have resulted in at least 60 deaths and the displacement of thousands.
The violence is part of Israel’s ongoing military escalation in the West Bank, which has killed at least 923 Palestinians and injured nearly 7,000 since the war on Gaza began on October 7, 2023. Last July, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled that Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories is illegal and called for the removal of all illegal settlements in the West Bank and East al-Quds.
