Alwaght – Germany is home to more than 500 members of ISIS terrorist group, German interior minister, Thomas de Maiziere said.
In an interview with the local Bild newspaper, he said “over 520 ISIS terrorists call Germany home and are ready to strike the country."
"The terror threat now stems from foreign hit teams as well as fanatical lone wolves in Germany,” he said.
Lone wolves are ISIS members dispersed around the world who carry out their attacks individually in a more limited but meanwhile untraceable way.
"The hit teams are secretly smuggled into Europe and prepare their actions without being noticed, as we saw with the attacks in Paris and Brussels,” he said. “But it’s even more difficult to uncover the fanatical lone wolves. Unfortunately, there is a real and present danger from both threats".
In the latest of Lone Wolve attacks, a 22 years old young man stabbed a pedestrian in Sydney, Australia. The victim was not killed but was in critical conditions in hospital.
Although western secret services are tracking “potential terrorist”, undiscovered lone wolves still live inside such countries, the FM said.
