Alwaght- Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif implicitly said that Saudi Arabian Wahhabis are not Muslim.
"Indeed; no resemblance between Islam of Iranians & most Muslims & bigoted extremism that Wahhabi top cleric & Saudi terror masters preach,” Zarif posted on his Twitter account on Tuesday.
According to Press TV, Zarif made the remark in response to a top Wahhabi cleric saying that Iranians were not Muslims.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al ash-Sheikh told an Arabic language newspaper that Iranians are not Muslims and have a deep animosity towards Sunnis.
The Mufti’s remarks were made after Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei criticized those in charge of Hajj (Pilgrimage) over last year’s Mina tragedy.
On 24 September 2016 thousands of Hajis (pilgrims) were caught in a crowed collapse on their way to Ramy al-Jamarat, symbolic stoning of Satan, and the resulting stampede caused an unratified number of people -from 2,411 by AP to 4,700 by Iranian media- to lose their lives due to suffocation and heat exhaustion.
However, one year on, the Kingdome still refuses any official explanation or responsibility on the issue.
