Alwaght- Israeli regime has detained some 560 children from occupied East al-Quds (Jerusalem) since the beginning of 2016, 110 are still being held in Israeli jails, the Palestinian Committee of Prisoners’ Affairs revealed yesterday.
According to committee head Issa Qaraqe, fourteen of those who are still in detention are being held in Israeli juvenile detention centers, four girls and 10 are boys.
Israeli authorities have placed 60 of those released under house arrest, he said.
The head of the Jerusalem Committee for Families of Prisoners, Amjad Abu Asab, said that most children held in Israeli jails were beaten and assaulted by Israeli forces.
Some of the minors, Abu Asab added, were injured and denied the right to have a family member present during interrogation. He warned that children held in Israeli prisons suffer physical and psychological pressure that has “long term effects on their psyche.”
