Alwaght-An international conference on "Imam Khomeini and Islamic Ummah" has been held in the Iranian capital Tehran.
The conference which ended on Thursday was attended by senior Iranian officials, Sunni and Shiite Muslim clerics, academics, intellectuals and scholars from across Iran and other parts of the world.
Several international intellectuals delivered speeches and lectures highlighting the necessity of creating unity among the world divine religions and all Islamic sects.
The scholars stressed that Imam's ideals, thought, practical conduct and works show he had been opposed to all divide and sectarian strife among Muslims.
A keynote speaker at the conference was Ayatollah Taskhiri, the former secretary general of the World Assembly for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought.
The Islamic Scholar went onto say that the revolution led by Imam Khomeini surprised the world and remains identical to a miracle.
Ayatollah Taskhiri also stressed that Imams’ personality has been a comprehensive one, as he had good command over a range of fields of knowledge such as jurisprudence, mysticism, philosophy and Quran and Hadith sciences etc.
On Wednesday also Tehran has hosted an international conference dubbed the Discourse of Imam Khomeini’s Political Islam and the Contemporary World. Scholars from across the world attended the event which was aimed at exploring the views and thoughts of the late founder of the Islamic Republic.
Hundreds of foreign guests, who are in the Iranian capital to attend the 27the passing away anniversary of Imam Khomeini, also actively participated at the gathering.
The 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran attained victory under the leadership of the late Imam Khomeini, thus putting an end to the monarchical rule of the US-backed Pahlavi regime.
Iranians are marking the death anniversary of Imam Khomeini, with the mourning starting late on Thursday and lasting until Friday.
The Iranian embassies around the world will also hold ceremonies to mark the sad demise Imam Khomeini who passed away on June 3, 1989.
