Alwaght- The Iranian foreign ministry spokesman, Hossein Jaberi Ansari, was quoted by, Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, IRIB, on Thursday as condemning the deliberate provocation by Saudis.
“This deliberate and intentional act by the Saudi Arabian government is in violation of all international conventions and legal treaties regarding the protection and impunity of diplomatic compounds under all circumstances,” Jaberi Ansari was quoted as saying by the IRIB news agency.
“Iran holds the government of Saudi Arabia responsible for this act and wounding of a number of embassy staff and damages made to its building,” he added.
In June 2015 Iran warned of “serious consequences” in case of more Saudi airstrikes close to the Islamic Republic’s diplomatic mission in the Yemeni capital Sanaa.
In a letter to the United Nations Security Council, Iran’s Ambassador to the UN Gholam Ali Khoshrou said Saudi air raids have twice hit areas close to the Iranian embassy in Sanaa.
Iran's diplomatic mission compound in Sanaa suffered severe damage during the bombings on May 25 which was followed a similar attack on April 20.
The Saudi regime and its allies began a military aggression against Yemen – without a UN mandate – on March 26 to stop advances of the Ansarullah movement which is backed by the country`s army and Popular Committees. The Saudi regime intends to restore fugitive former Yemeni president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi to power.
During the nine months of the Saudi war on Yemen, at least 7,700 people have been killed mostly civilians including women and children.
The illegal war on Yemen has also inflicted damages on hundreds of important installations in the civilian infrastructure including hospitals, schools, mosques, residential quarters, water reservoirs etc.
