YAF Seizes al-Safiya, Disrupting Key Taiz-Aden Supply Route

ALWAGHT- The Yemeni Armed Forces have blocked movement along a major road linking Taiz and Aden as clashes continue in the area, strengthening their foothold around Taiz amid escalating hostilities.

The Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) reportedly seized the al-Safiya area and cut the main road linking Taiz and Aden, according to AFP sources. The move included taking control of a local police station and stopping traffic, further tightening the pressure around Taiz.

The development follows reported YAF advances along Yemen’s western coast, where the forces have captured strategic high ground while Saudi-backed forces have retreated on several fronts. Saudi airstrikes have reportedly failed to halt the advances.

Meanwhile, Saudi forces carried out airstrikes in Al-Jawf and artillery and missile attacks near Yemen’s border areas in Saada. Initial reports indicated casualties in Al-Jawf, while a girl was reportedly injured in shelling in Saada’s Haydan district.

YAF spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree said Saudi forces conducted 60 airstrikes and missile attacks across several Yemeni governorates within 24 hours on October 3. He said the attacks targeted civilian sites and brought the reported total since the latest escalation to 1,410 airstrikes and missile attacks.
