Iran Condemns Trump’s “Grave and Explicit” Military Threats, Urges UN Action

ALWAGHT- Iran has condemned US President Donald Trump’s “grave and explicit” threats of war related to its nuclear program and defense capabilities, calling on the UN Security Council to censure the remarks and take steps to avert further escalation.

Donald Trump threatened to strike Iran during a joint press conference with the Israeli prime minister, warning that the US would destroy Iran’s missiles if Tehran attempted to rearm. He also said he would support an Israeli attack if Iran continued its ballistic missile or nuclear activities.

In response, Iran’s UN ambassador Amir Saeid Iravani sent a letter to the UN secretary-general and Security Council president, describing Trump’s remarks as “grave and explicit” threats of force and a clear violation of international law. He urged the Security Council to strongly condemn the statements and act to prevent escalation.

The letter placed the threats in the context of the June 2025 conflict, during which Israel launched attacks inside Iran and the US later bombed Iranian nuclear facilities. Iran said it halted the assault through retaliatory operations and warned that Trump’s statements signal an intent to continue unlawful aggression.

Iran also criticized US support for Israel, accused Washington of double standards on nuclear non-proliferation, and reaffirmed its right to self-defense. The letter warned that failure by the UN to act would undermine the credibility of the Security Council and international peace and security.
