ALWAGHT- On Sunday, Israeli forces killed 53 Palestinians and destroyed 16 buildings, including three residential towers, as they pressed their offensive to seize northern Gaza City.
Local medical sources reported that at least 35 of the recent casualties occurred in Gaza City, while two more Palestinians died of malnutrition, bringing the death toll from hunger to 422 since the start of Israel’s war. Israeli forces targeted the al-Kawthar tower in the southern Remal neighborhood, destroying the building with missiles and forcing tens of thousands to flee.
The Gaza Government Media Office condemned Israel’s bombing of civilian buildings, accusing the military of targeting schools, mosques, hospitals, and aid facilities rather than armed groups. UNRWA confirmed that 10 of its buildings, including seven schools and two clinics sheltering displaced people, were hit in Gaza City over four days, while UNICEF warned that no area, even so-called humanitarian zones, is safe.
Israel’s military strategy, approved in August to capture Gaza City and control the blockaded strip, has been condemned globally. Prime Minister Netanyahu stated the intent to “take control” of all Palestinian territory, intensifying international concern. Since October 2023, Israel’s war has killed over 64,800 Palestinians.
