Israeli Forces Open Fire on Aid Seekers in Gaza, Killing Four and Wounding Several

ALWAGHT- Medical sources report that Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinians seeking humanitarian aid in Gaza, killing at least four, as hospitals continue to register rising deaths from famine and malnutrition in the besieged enclave.

On Saturday, Israeli troops reportedly opened fire on civilians in the central Wadi Gaza area, killing and injuring several people, according to the Palestinian WAFA news agency. The attack came amid repeated incidents near aid distribution points, where more than 1,000 Palestinians seeking assistance have been killed since May. The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), run with US and Israeli backing, has been criticized by the UN and aid groups for inadequate supplies and unsafe conditions at its distribution sites.

Humanitarian organizations warn that famine is worsening, particularly among children and the elderly. Despite urgent appeals, aid entering Gaza remains far below the necessary levels, with the UN estimating that at least 500 to 600 trucks are required daily to meet basic needs. The ongoing shortage has fueled desperation and heightened risks at aid collection points.

Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes intensified in Gaza City on Saturday, targeting a UN school sheltering displaced families and destroying a multistory residential building. Civil defense officials report that at least 50 high-rise buildings have been demolished in recent weeks, with entire neighborhoods leveled, including the Zeitoun district where over 1,500 homes have been destroyed since August. The offensive, ongoing since October 2023, has killed at least 64,756 Palestinians, mostly women and children, while leaving Gaza devastated and facing severe food insecurity.
