Leader: Indirect Oman Talks ‘Positive’ So Far, But Trust in The Other Side ‘Remains’ A Concern

ALWAGHT- Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, Leader of the Islamic Revolution, stated that the indirect talks between Iran and the United States in Muscat have been "well executed in their early stages," but emphasized that the Islamic Republic remains "highly skeptical" of the other party.

Ayatollah Khamenei, speaking to the heads of Iran's executive, judicial, and legislative branches, acknowledged the initial success of the indirect talks between Iran and the US in Muscat but emphasized the Islamic Republic's deep skepticism toward the other side. He stated that Iran was neither overly optimistic nor pessimistic about the talks but expressed distrust in the US.

The Leader cautioned against linking the country's progress to the outcome of these talks, urging that Iran must rely on its own resources and capabilities. He made it clear that the nation's growth and development should not be dependent on negotiations with the US, stressing the importance of self-reliance and not repeating past mistakes like those during the JCPOA talks.

While discussing the ongoing negotiations, Khamenei reiterated that the talks were focused solely on addressing US sanctions and the Iranian nuclear program, rejecting any speculations about other issues being involved. He further stressed that as long as the US maintained its hostile policies, direct negotiations were neither acceptable nor useful for Iran.
