ALWAGHT- Iran’s UN ambassador, Amir Saeid Iravani, denounced Israel’s attempts to justify its crimes, atrocities, and apartheid policies by falsely linking Islam to terrorism.
At a UN high-level meeting on combating Islamophobia, Iran’s ambassador, Amir Saeid Iravani, condemned Israel’s ongoing aggression against Palestinians and its attempts to justify crimes by falsely linking Islam to terrorism. He highlighted the daily hardships faced by Palestinians under occupation and criticized Israel’s collaboration with its allies in spreading Islamophobic narratives.
Iravani also raised concerns about rising Islamophobia in Western countries, citing instances of violence, defamation, and desecration of Islamic values under the guise of free speech. He called on nations to criminalize religious hatred and take collective action against Islamophobia. Reaffirming Iran’s stance, he stressed the need for global efforts to counter anti-Muslim campaigns, particularly those spread through media and social platforms.
He referenced UN resolutions addressing Islamophobia, emphasizing the need for legislative and policy measures to combat hate speech. Iravani welcomed the appointment of H.E. Mr. Moratinos as the UN’s Special Envoy to Combat Islamophobia and expressed Iran’s commitment to working closely with him in this effort.
