ALWAGHT- Hamas criticized the United States for designating Yemen's Ansarullah movement as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO), describing the decision as unwarranted and indicative of a pro-Israel bias.
Hamas released a statement on Friday condemning the United States' decision as a retaliatory action against Yemenis for supporting Gaza during recent conflicts.
The group accused the US of destabilizing the region by backing Israel, which it described as the "true source of terrorism and instability."
Hamas called on Washington to reconsider its designation and end its bias toward Israel.
Earlier, on Wednesday, US President Donald Trump officially classified Yemen's Ansarullah movement as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO).
This decision followed Ansarullah-linked military actions, including attacks on US Navy ships and Israel-affiliated vessels since November 2023, conducted in solidarity with Palestinians amid Israeli aggression in Gaza.
Yemen’s Ansarullah political bureau also criticized the US move. In a statement on Thursday, Ansarullah called the designation a "desperate effort" to weaken Yemeni support for Palestinians and facilitate further Israeli crimes.
The group accused the US of attempting to exacerbate Palestinian suffering while shielding Israeli atrocities in Gaza, adding that the US has a history of complicity in terrorism and lacks the credibility to label other groups as terrorists.
