ALWAGHT- At least 34 Palestinians were killed in a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting refugee tents and homes across Gaza on Tuesday, as Israel intensified ground operations in the enclave's northern region, according to medical sources.
On Tuesday, Israeli airstrikes hit two tents for displaced people in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza, killing six individuals, including two women and two children. In a separate incident, a Palestinian basketball player died from an airstrike on his home in the Maghazi refugee camp. Another three people were killed in an attack on a refugee tent near Khan Younis in southern Gaza, while additional casualties were reported from strikes in eastern Gaza City and Beit Lahia.
Israel has imposed a blockade in northern Gaza, stating it aims to prevent Hamas from regrouping, but Palestinians claim the intent is to occupy the region and forcibly displace its residents. Since the blockade’s implementation, over 1,800 Palestinians have died, with severe shortages of food and essential supplies reported by Palestinian health officials.
The World Health Organization (WHO) expressed deep concern over airstrikes on Gaza hospitals, calling for an immediate ceasefire to protect civilians and healthcare workers. WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus urged for an end to the violence, highlighting that lives depend on a ceasefire. WHO personnel recently delivered supplies to Kamal Adwan Hospital, which was subsequently hit, injuring six children, and facilitated patient transfers to other facilities amid continued attacks.
The Israeli offensive has reportedly caused nearly 43,400 Palestinian deaths, leaving much of Gaza uninhabitable, according to local officials. The International Court of Justice is currently reviewing a genocide case against Israel based on actions taken in Gaza.
