Iran vows to exercise its ’legitimate’ defense rights at the right time and place

ALWAGHT- Iranian government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani states that the Islamic Republic reserves its right to self-defense, emphasizing that it will exercise this "legitimate" right at the "right time and place."

At a press conference on Tuesday, Iranian government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani condemned a recent Israeli airstrike on Iranian territory, calling it an attempt by the Zionist regime to divert attention from its setbacks in Gaza and Lebanon. She reported that the attack, a clear violation of international law, led to the martyrdom of five Iranians.

Mohajerani asserted that these actions would only reinforce Iranian national unity, countering any belief by Israel that it could undermine the solidarity of the Iranian people. The Israeli strike targeted multiple Iranian military facilities, resulting in the deaths of four servicemen and one civilian. Iran’s Defense Minister, Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, later reported that the damage was minor and had been swiftly repaired.

Mohajerani also highlighted Iran’s commitment to diplomacy, which she said had helped minimize enemy threats, with widespread international condemnation of Israel’s aggression. She attributed current regional tensions to Israel's "excessive demands" and its inability to secure victories in conflicts with Gaza and Lebanon, prompting it to escalate tensions in the region.

The spokeswoman further noted that Iran’s new budget prioritizes defense, with an increase of over 200 percent in military funding. She reiterated that Iran seeks peace, not war, but remains prepared to deliver a “firm and appropriate” response to Israel’s actions.
