Alwaght- The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas, has vowed that that al-Quds (Jerusalem) Intifada or uprising will continue and escalate in 2016 as long as the Palestinian land is still under Israeli occupation.
Hamas spokesman Husam Badran stated on Thursday that the coming year will witness different forms of intifada and resistance operations against the Israeli regime.
Badran also mourned the death of 22-year-old Hasan Bazzour, who carried out a vehicular attack at Beita junction in Nablus earlier on the same day, and described him as a hero.
“The heroic operation of martyr Hasan Bazzour took place when Palestinian people were bidding farewell to the current year and receiving a fresh one, which will be a year for anger and growing revolt in the face of the Zionist occupation,” he underscored.
The latest wave of tensions in Palestine have been triggered by Israel regime's imposition in August of restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in East al-Quds (Jerusalem).
Al-Aqsa Mosque is the third holiest site in Islam after Masjid al-Haram in Mecca and Masjid al-Nabawi in Medina.
The restrictions imposed by Israel on entry into the compound have enraged Palestinians, who are also angry at increasing violence by Israeli settlers frequently storming the al-Aqsa Mosque.
The Palestinians say the Tel Aviv regime seeks to change the status quo of the compound.
